Luna two pin Copy Router.

All Luna Copy Routers feature the latest innovations in Copy Router design and combine many years of experience in designing this type of equipment. Luna Copy Routers, utilising the latest fabricating technology and up-to-date use of equipment in machine design and fabrication enables us to offer a Copy Router that is superior in quality and features but lower in price of alternative but uncompetitive and inferior design suppliers.

The twin pin copy router with one cutting spindle design is the most economic choice for the small to medium and larger aluminium fabrication operations.

Luna also supplies a full range of copy routers; inclusive of CNC controlled multi axis machine centres and customised fully automatic production facilities.

Some of the superior features of Luna two pin Copy Routers:

  • Supplied with template for all standard lock cutouts
  • Template design service to your specific needs.
  • Twin copy pins.
  • Three phase or single phase motors.
  • Spindle speed 12,000rpm
  • Recessed table for through routing
  • Large template capacity
  • Superior Luna Spray mist lubrication system
  • Low investment cost

Luna Copy Router a better choice for superior economy in your production:

One of the key features is the reduction in handling that can be achieved with the proper setup of a Luna two pin copy router.

Basic example of a common setup of a two pin copy router for the fabrication of aluminium doors:

The basic setup consists of an in-feed conveyor the copy router fit with pneumatic clamping system and spray mist lubrication and out-feed conveyor incorporating a 1.5m LUNA length stop (several types and configurations available).

The Luna two pin copy router is equipped with a template to cut all holes required for standard door system.

The operator starts the operation by moving the length stop into the height position of the latch bolt hole.

The short side of the lock stile of the door is positioned onto the fence of the copy router and against the Luna Maxi length stop.

The operator releases the left follower pin of the copy router into the first cut out of the template.

The pneumatic clamping mechanisms are engaged locking the lock stile of the door tight.

The operator takes the cutting lever of the copy router with his right hand and presses the motor start button on top of the lever.

The copy router motor and the spray mist system are turned on (manually or automatic depending on copy router type).

The operator moves the router cutter down with the handle of the equipment cutting through the aluminium. The operator follows the cut out with the guidance pin in the template and cutting the hole for the door handle in to the aluminium extrusion.

The two mounting holes of the door handle assembly are made with the same pin.

After completing this operation the operator turns the lock stile extrusion onto the face side (latch bolt side) and disengages the left pin and engages the right pin into the latch bolt cut-out of the template.

The cutting operation is performed as described before.

After this operation the door lock stile extrusion is put with the long side against the fence of the copy router. The left pin is now used with the second cut out for the door handle below as was used to start off with.

The last side of the door lock stile is cut as described before.

The lock stile of the door is now complete. For double doors usually a cut out for a door bolt is provided in the template

To machine the latch mortice in the door frame the LUNA stop is repositioned or a second Luna stop on the in-feed conveyor is used to position the door frame extrusion.

To cut the striker mortice the depth adjustment of the copy router is set to the required depth so that the striker plate can be fitted flash with the frame extrusion face.

Operation of the copy router as described above.

It becomes evident from this example how the handling and specifically the setup time compared to single pin routers can be reduced by more the 60% (With more accuracy and less errors) utilising the two pins copy router in combination with LUNA length stops.
