Cutter-Set Assembly

 Changing Cutter Set:

 To change the cutter set turn off the power to the machine. Make sure the cutter motor has fully

stopped turning before opening the safety cover to the plate cutter set.

Press the black quick mandrel release button and remove the lock washer from the spindle.

Pull the mandrel with the cutter set from the drive spindle.

Put the desired cutter set onto the spindle and orientate the mandrel so that it is locked for cutting.

Press the black quick mandrel release button and place the special lock washer onto the spindle

end so that the mandrel is locked securely to the spindle.

Close the safety cover so that the keyed safety switch is activated.

The horizontal slotting machine is ready for use.

To assembly, fine tune or change cutter sets:

 Turn off the power to the machine. Open the safety cover after the cutting spindle

has stopped turning.

Position the mandrel onto the assembly shaft located next to the drive spindle

under the safety cover.

Place cutters and spacers as required building up the cutter sets.

Observe the right cutting direction when assembling cutters sets.

To accurately set the right spacing with pre-selected spacers use a

vice to press and measure using an accurate venire caliper.

Assembly the cutter sets on the mandrel and secure with the

supplied nut – left hand thread.

Make sure that there is sufficient thread so that the cutters

and spacers are tight on the mandrel.

Use a spanner to tighten the nut normally.

Do not over tighten as that might damage the thread in time.

Make a test cut into the extrusion of a few mm to allow measuring

with a venire caliper.

Make sure that the aluminium extrusion is securely clamped

before operating the horizontal slotting machine.

Use spacer washers to adjust until the slots are in the required positions.

Once the positions of the slots are obtained use the depth stop to set the desired slot depth.

Genesis Cutter-Set Assembly Configuration

The dimensions on the drawings below are nominal and might

require fine tuning to adjust to variations that might exist in the

cutter sets or Aluminium Extrusions.

The Genesis Cutter Sets are supplied preassembled and set to

nominal cutting dimensions.

Follow the instructions for Cutter-Set Assembly to adjust if required.

Perform trial cuts with all cutter-sets before you utilize the machine

for fabrication.
