This is an example of equipment utilising part
of existing equipment, in this case a frame and attached features and
replacing the main unit of this equipment with a new designed and
fabricated unit.
This
high speed punch press equipment is used to produce sheet metal strips
which are combined with flexible material in a secondary process to
fabricate isolation strips used in air-conditioning equipment.
The
original design of this punch unit (supplied by a overseas supplier)
required constant service attention and parts needed replacement on a
frequent basis.
The two units were designed and fabricated by
TAMA utilising a more modern approach in the mechanical design. The major
parts of the equipment were calculated utilising finite
element analysis
software.
A
new control system utilising VDF was installed to ensure smooth operation.
In
almost three years of operation after some minor fine tuning and initial
commissioning the equipment has not failed.
