This is an example
of a fixture that is part of a production cell to produce a component that
is used in the automotive industries.
This unit joins a
pivot joint unit that features stable positions for several positions.
This unit consist of
mainly two punched and press formed parts.
The fixture shown
assembles the two main parts with a spring and slide rings via two swaging
stations that are hydraulically operated.
The third station is
the quality test station of this fixture.
The assembled pivot
unit is turned on its axis pneumatically and a incorporated load cell
measures the required torque.
The torque indicates
if the unit has been assembled properly and the used press formed parts
are not faulty.

fixture. The operator places the components into a nest that is
incorporated into the indexing table.
The nest have
incorporated features that prevent the operator from placing the
components into the nest wrongly.
