| Guidelines to fit Luna Saw Blade Lubrication System to a Luna Saw |
|
Tools required: 1) Hexagon Wrench Set 2) Power Drill 3) 4.5mm drill 4) 5mm Drill 5) 6.5mm Drill 6) 6mm metric tap. 7) 3.5mm Drill Material Required:
|
1.1 Locate switch depending on saw type so that the aluminium angle bracket can activate it. 1.2 Mark through the holes of the switch and drill two 4.5mm holes. 1.3 Fit pneumatic switch with two screws, spring washers and nuts as shown. You need to use spring washers or Loctite to secure the switch to stop the saw vibration from loosening the screws. 1.4 The air supply line from your compressor goes into the upper port of the switch and the line to the venturi valve goes to the lower valve port. The switch is turned off if the saw head is up and the stem of the switch is pushed in. |

1.5 If the saw has automatic clamping a T connector is mounted into the line that goes to the Spray-Mist Nozzle near the switch. 1.6 Locate the aluminium bracket so that it pushes the stem of the pneumatic switch in with the saw head up ( if there was none in the kit cut a 30x30 aluminium angle approx 15mm long). 1.7 Drill and tap two holes M6 ( or M5 or M4 – the size is not that important)
1.8 Mount the aluminium bracket with two screws. You have to
use two |
|
|
Note: On same type of saws the pneumatic switch is mounted onto the rear saw body. In that case drill and tap M4 metric and mount the switch directly. 2. Mount Venturi spray mist nozzle.2.1 Drill a 6mm hole at the rear of the fixed saw blade cover behind the retractable saw cover about in the centre of the saw blade location. If the hole is not in the centre of the saw blade use a round file and file until the nozzle of the venturi can be mounted to spray the centre of the saw blade teeth. This is important as you need the spray mist to go onto the teeth and both sides of the saw blade for best performance. 2.2 Locate the venturi valve so that it is points to the centre of the teeth and mark the hole position (because the cover is aluminium you can use a nail as a centre punch through the screw hole). 2.3 Drill and tap M4 mm metric. 2.4 Mount the venturi valve with the screw that is supplied with the venturi valve. 2.5 Fit the two air line connections – do not over tighten the fittings!! 2.6 Connect the air supply line from the activating switch to the port that is in line with the nozzle of the venturi. 2.7 Connect the line from the lubrication container to the other port.

Fit the lubrication
container.
3.1 Fit the lubrication container below the venturi valve. If you need to mount the container above you need to fit an extra shut off valve. The cutting fluid will run out through the venturi valve if mounted above. 3.2 Use two screws to mount the lubrication container. This depends where you chose to mount the container. It is good practise to mount the container so that it you can easily see if it needs a refill. 3.3 Drill a 5 mm hole into the lid of the container and fit the filter. You need to operate the system with a filter. The venturi valve will not function if it gets clogged by small particles. 3.4 Use Lunasol or lubricants that are similar. The system will not operate with heavier oils. Note: Lunasol is a synthetic product that dilutes 1:20 with water. Water is the most efficient coolant you can use for cutting. The additives in the Lunasol perform better than oil and do not leave residues on your extrusions. |
