Proposed installation for Luna Saw Blade Lubrication System on non Luna saws (Makita or similar).

Saw blade lubrication System: 1 venturi spray mist valve; ๘6mm nozzle extension hose;

1 only activating valve; 2 only 5mm air fittings; 1 ผ” air fitting; air line blue ๘4mm; air line transparent ๘4mm, valve activating bracket; 1 only lubrication container; 1 only container holder; 1 only lubrication fluid filter; 1 litre Lunasol.

 1.                  Drill a hole for the venturi spray mist nozzle in the saw cover behind the safety guard (pull the head down to establish rear position of the cover). The hole should be in the centre of the saw blade.

2.                  If it is not possible to get direct access to the saw blade use the supplied short blue 6mm air hose to extend from the spray mist nozzle to the saw blade. The spray mist nozzle (or extension must point directly onto the saw blade teeth for best results. Cut the 4mm air hose to the required length so that there is a suggested gap of approximately 5mm (not critical). To improve cutting fluid misting push a small section of 4mm air hose into the end of the 6mm hose.

3.                  Drill a second hole and tap metric 4mm. Use the venturi spray mist valve to mark the position of the hole. Fit the venturi spray mist valve with the supplied 4mm screw. Some saws might require an extra bracket to mount the valve (not supplied).

4.                  Fit the two supplied air fittings to the venturi spray mist valve. Tighten the fittings gently – do not over tighten!

5.                  Mount the air-activating valve on the side of the saw with brackets (one supplied) so that the valve stem is pushed in if the saw head is in its upper (normal) position. If the saw head is pulled down the valve will activate the airflow to the venturi spry mist valve.

6.                  If you have no air supply on your saw, install a T air fitting into your compressed air supply line.

7.                  It might be an advantage to install also a shut off air valve (not supplied) on your air supply to the lubrication system. This will allow you to turn the lubrication off if you should need to cut e.g. wood.

8.                  Fit the supplied air fitting into the T air fitting (or shut off valve).

9.                  Mount the bottle holder LOWER than the venturi spray mist valve. The recommended position would be visible on your saw stand or, if the saw area is equipped noise protective boot, visible on the inside wall of the boot. The venturi spray mist valve features an inbuilt shuttle valve that will stop the saw blade lubrication liquid from draining back into the container. If you move the saw head for cutting the spry mist will operate.

10.              Connect the air supply via air fitting to the valve to port No. 1. Use the blue 4mm airline for your air supply. (The air hose is pushed into the air fitting. To disconnect the air hose push “in” the outside ring of the fitting and pull out the air hose.)

11.              Connect the air activating valve port No 2 to the venturi spray mist valve port No 1. Port No 1 is closer to the spray mist adjustment screw. Use the transparent air hose and cut to lenght. Make sure that there is sufficient airline if the saw head is pulled down.

12.              Connect port No 3 of the venturi spray mist valve to the spray mist lubrication container.

13.              Cut the lubrication supply line to the desired length. Make sure the line is long enough if the saw head is pulled down. Push the transparent air hose though the hole in the lid of the container and push onto the lubrication supply line the supplied filter.

If the lid comes without holes, drill one 4mm hole in the centre of the lid and a 1.5mm air vent hole next to it.

14.              Mix Lunasol 1 part with 20 parts clean water. Mix only the quantity of Lunasol required for your lubrication container to get full performance of the product.

Lunasol is specifically formulated for Aluminium fabricating industries and does not leave any residues on you cut extrusions. After cutting, the extrusions can be powder coated or painted without extra cleaning work. Lunasol does not effect the operation of dust extractors (chip extractors). The normal standard extractor dust bags (normally used for wood cutting) can be used with out problem (However, Luna supplies special dust bags for the use with Aluminium chips).

If any oil based cutting fluids are used, they will usually clog the dust bags and reduce the performance of your extractor system. Oil based cutting fluids will produce a micro mist during the cutting process that will produce a fine mist throughout your workshop.

Lunasol is usually entirely absorbed into the extracted air.

Activate your new saw blade lubrication system and adjust the spray mist with the adjustment screw on the venturi spray mist valve. A small amount of cutting fluid is sufficient for your thin walled extrusions. Use a richer spray mist for your thicker extrusions.

Usually a small amount of lubrication fluid remains in the cutting area if the proper amount of cutting fluid is adjusted.

TAMA Tools and Machinery supplies a full range of pneumatic equipment. We supply the best suitable equipment for your application from Brand name suppliers. Tama supplies a range of specialised pneumatic components specifically tailored for the Aluminium Fabricating industries.

Use Lunasol also for all your routing and drilling operations. Lunasol can be used diluted 1:1 for punching.

TAMA supplies SyncPunch a specially formulated synthetic punching oil that is specifically formulated for all your cutting and punching operations on Aluminium extrusions. SyncPunch needs to be cleaned off the extrusions with detergent for powder coating or painting.
