Basic Instruction Sheet: Spare parts to improve the operation of your Saw. (LUNA and Omga range 159/220/130 saws) |
|
If you Purchase a LUNA saw for aluminium fabrication these heavy duty components can be fitted on your new saw. If you purchase a Omga saw usually for woodworking the standard components are fitted; this is also usually ok for light Al extrusions. These components are designed for saws that are in heavy use. Luna identified the components that are usually replaced frequently on this range of saw and designed them so that you never need to worry about them again (that excludes extreme misuse or accidents). Worth mentioning is also that some of the spare parts of competitors equipment can be several times more expensive then LUNA spares if you need to replace them. We don’t try to make money of our customer’s misfortune. We expect that our equipment is designed for the task and we usually try to understand whey equipment fails. If there is a way to eliminate frequent mishaps we will do something about it – as you can see. Some of the equipment we sell (not sold originally but same product) is forty years old and going strong.

The saw Fences. Normally the saw fence on the 159 and 220 saw is an aluminium cast design. In heavy use if the saw is not operated with care the fence cutting gap section can break or bend (it is a very heavy casting in the 130 type – so no need for that on this saw type). The heavy duty replacement set of saw fences is machined out off solid mild steel and surface treated against corrosion. This section is critical. It has to be in line with the rest of the fence. If the tips of this section are bent, the saw blade will pull the extrusions into the gap jamming the blade or if you have a small off-cut it will fling it out which can cause a danger to other operators. Some competitors equipment utilise cast iron fences. Don’t be fooled into believing that they can not break! - they can – cast iron can break - mild steel can bend but you can straighten it. It is possible to weld our competitors fences – but because of the type of cast iron you need to find a welding shop with the capabilities to do it !(It needs to be heated in a certain way and a special expensive electrode needs to be used). If it is not done professionally it will break as soon as you use it. For the cost of repairing the cast iron fence of our competitors we can sell you two complete sets of spare fences for our saw including shipping! For the price of a new spare part saw fence from our competitors, you are almost spending half of what it would cost you to purchase one of our bigger saws that you won't have this problem with in the first place. Yes that's right, HALF a Saw. |

The Saw table insert. The saw table insert is supplied on a lot of saw as a plastic moulding. If the insert wears, the gap becomes bigger and the cut specifically on small extrusions is not so neat anymore. Most larger heavy duty saws do have aluminium inserts. New Luna saws for aluminium cutting are supplied with aluminium insert. If you have a woodworking or older saw with plastic insert you can replace it with an aluminium insert which will last considerably longer for about twice the cost of the plastic insert (you have to use cap screws to fit it). |

Naturally we sell all spare parts for our equipment. Most of the spare parts for our equipment is well designed and is supplied as original spare part from the original fabricator. Some spare parts are modified or produced for the Australian market (what works in Europe does not necessarily withstands the cruel and merciless treatment of the Australian operator). Some equipment we sell is specifically configured for how it is used in The Australian Market. |
